Elise started school on Tuesday. She has been so ready - for a while. Yet the night before she found it hard to get to sleep and was quiet and a little anxious. Not the usual bouncy, bubbly girl I'm accustomed to! But the big day dawned and Ellie was out of bed and in her school uniform before you could say boo (or time to get up!). She was just SO excited!
Nan and Pa met us all at the front gate for some photos and well wishes. Then she was in running to her classroom. Barely time for goodbyes - let alone tears - we even had to cajole her into saying goodbye to us and particularly Abbey who was feeling a bit sad...
At the end of the day she was happy to see me and said "It's more fun home with you Mum - school was boring. We didn't learn anything - we just played all day!" When questioned more closely it seems that she expected to learn to read and write all in one day! Oh to be so ambitious! After a half hour play with friends on the playground we headed home for an early tea and early to bed. Although I did hear the girls chatting on for a long time - I guess they had a lot of catching up to do for a whole day apart...
